Jasmine Lu (September 2024 - April 2025) (2024 年 9 月 - 2025 年 4 月)

I'm Jasmine and I've been a placement student at CCNCTO since September. I'm currently graduating from my Bachelors Degree at UofT in Physiology and Urban Studies. I wanted to join CCNCTO as part of my Community Engaged Learning class. I want to know how I can be a greater supporter for my community and being close to my culture and identity makes me feel more connected to my heritage and aware of the issues that face my community and my family. 

我是Jasmine，从去年9月开始做平权会的实习生。我即将获得多伦多大学的生物和城市研究学士学位。通过加入平权会，我成为社区参与学习班的一员。我想知道如何才能更好地支持我的社区，同时贴近我的文化和身份认同，使我与自己的传统更加紧密相连，并更深刻地意识到我的社区和家人所面临的问题。

In my time here, I've learned a lot of about allyship, collective action, and how we can be leaders in anti-racism, workers justice, and anti-hate advocacy. I feel like I've always known about some of the problems that face the Chinese community, but being closer to the issues and knowing more about how we can create direct change has been really empowering. 

在这里，我学到了很多关于联盟建设、集体行动，以及如何成为反种族主义、工人正义和反仇恨倡导的领导者的知识。我一直都知道华裔社区面临的一些问题，但更接近这些问题并更多地了解如何创造直接的改变确实让我充满力量。

I'm more proud of all the work I've done for the Anti-Racism, Anti-Hate project (ARAH). Being able to work with such amazing youth who are enthusiastic and ready to address issues like racism and discrimination is inspiring and it gives me a lot of hope for our future! I've met a lot of great community leaders through this placement. 

我为自己在亚裔反对种族主义与仇恨 (ARAH) 项目中的所有工作感到自豪。能够与一群充满热情、致力于解决种族主义和歧视问题的优秀年轻人并肩工作，令我深受鼓舞，也让我对我们的未来充满希望！通过这次实习，我结识了许多杰出的社区领袖。

Working with Eleanor, Nikki, and Noah has been amazing; knowing that there are hardworking people who are doing so much for our community makes me feel like I can do the same. I hope that others take the time to contribute to CCCNCTO and engage in advocacy and collective action. We are more powerful together and this organization gives people the platform to do this important work. So please support them in any capacity you can, and if you're a student thinking about how to get more involved with social justice, this has been an incredibly supportive and educational experience!

Yuze Situ (September 2024 - April 2025) （2024 年 9 月 - 2025 年 4 月）

As a social work student at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), my passion for social justice, community advocacy, and research related to anti-Asian racism has led me to completing my third year placement at CCNCTO! 

作为多伦多都市大学（TMU）社会工作专业的学生，我对社会正义、社区倡导以及反亚裔种族主义研究的热情，促使我在平权会完成了大三的实习！

Through my time here, I was given the opportunity to plan and lead multiple community outreach events, co-facilitate the Asians Against Racism and Hate (ARAH) training sessions, and assist in community research initiatives. Among these activities, my favourite was the ARAH project. Before starting at CCNCTO, I had very little experience in community outreach. However, after working with several of our youth leaders to brainstorm and plan the first 2025 youth-led ARAH workshop, I grew more confident in my abilities to collaborate and engage with youth and seniors in anti-racism discussions. 

在此期间，我策划和领导了多个社区外展活动、共同主持亚裔反对种族主义与仇恨（ARAH）培训课程，并协助社区研究项目。其中我最喜欢的就是 ARAH 项目。在加入平权会之前，我在社区外展方面的经验不多。然而，在与几位青年领袖一起集思广益，并成功策划了 2025 年首届青年主导的 ARAH 研讨会后，我对自己与青年和长者合作、并积极参与反种族主义讨论的能力更加自信了。

As we approach CCNCTO’s 40th anniversary, I look forward to seeing our staff, community members, and placement students come together to celebrate the last 40 years of CCNCTO’s achievements and ongoing efforts. For future placement students, the experiences, relationships, and learning opportunities you will foster and develop at CCNCTO will be invaluable to both your personal and professional pathways. As you build upon the work of previous students, staff, and community members, there will be opportunities to inspire yourself and others towards advocacy and a better future for our community. 

随着平权会即将成立 40 周年，我期待看到我们的员工、社区成员和实习生齐聚一堂，共同庆祝平权会过去 40 年所取得的成就和持续努力。对于未来的实习生来说，你们在平权会培养和发展的经验、关系以及学习机会将对你们的个人和职业生涯产生无价的影响。在继承前辈学生、员工和社区成员的工作基础上，你们将有机会激励自己和他人，积极倡导并为我们社区创造更加美好的未来。

Emma Wong (Jan 2025 - Apr 2025) （2025 年 1 月 - 2025 年 4 月）

Having experienced worker exploitation myself and being given the opportunity to be a placement student through TMU’s placement course, I am deeply committed to fighting against racism and upholding social justice. Recognizing the racism and injustice faced by Chinese communities in Canada and as a Chinese person myself, I want to take action. I also believe in collective organizing, which aligns with CCNCTO’s vision, and that’s why I am here. 

我曾作为工人经历过剥削，并通过TMU的实习课程获得了实习生的机会，这让我更加坚定地致力于反对种族主义和维护社会正义。我深刻认识到加拿大华人社区面临的种族主义和不公正，作为一名华人，我渴望采取行动。我也坚信集体组织的力量，这与平权会的愿景高度契合，这也是我来到这里的原因。

During my placement, I gained experience in conducting research, particularly in a non-profit setting. This included researching funding opportunities, social media management, and worker organizing. Additionally, I attended youth-led anti-racism workshops and Chinese Worker Committee meetings, where I learned how to communicate effectively, take note of workers’ needs in both workplaces and daily life, and collaborate on action plans. These experiences not only provided me with knowledge but also firsthand insights, which I found incredibly empowering and encouraging.  

在实习期间，我获得了宝贵的研究经验，尤其是在非营利环境中的应用。这包括研究项目资金申请、社交媒体管理和工人组织等方面。此外，我还参与了青年领导的反种族主义研讨会和华裔工人委员会的会议。在这些会议中，我学到了如何有效沟通，如何关注工人在工作场所和日常生活中的需求，以及如何合作制定行动计划。这些经历不仅让我积累了丰富的知识，还让我获得了第一手的见解，这些见解让我深受鼓舞，并激励我为推动社会变革贡献力量。

Through this placement, I developed strong communication and research skills that I deeply value. I hope the fight against social injustice continues for generations to come. As CCNCTO’s 40th anniversary approaches, I look forward to seeing its ongoing efforts in worker organizing and capacity building inspire and mobilize Chinese communities including workers, youth, and seniors who are often marginalized. 

通过这次实习，我培养了强大的沟通和研究技能，这些是我非常重视的。我希望对抗社会不公的斗争能够延续几代人。随着平权会成立40周年的临近，我期待看到它在工人组织和能力建设方面的持续努力，能够激励并动员华人社区，尤其是那些经常被边缘化的工人、青年和长者。
